Teen/Youth representation in Media Article
Point of representation:
Children whose mothers experienced depression during pregnancy are four times more likely to become aggressive, anti-social and violent later in life. Depressed mums-to-be were likely to be aggressive in their own teen years, and therefore the experts believe that there is some biological link to this phenomenon when the mums history predicts their own children's antisocial behaviour
Evidence:
The study found that teenagers born to mothers who experienced depression in pregnancy were 4 times as likely to have children who showed violent behaviour by the age of 16. While 8.5 per cent of teens born to chipper expecting mums were found to show the antisocial behaviours, about 29 per cent of those born to depressed mums showed the same. This was true for both boys and girls. The results held even after accounting for mothers' anxiety and depression prior to getting pregnant, smoking and consuming alcohol during pregnancy, and the children’s' exposure to depressed mothers.
It was revealed that one-third of the children of the depressed mothers had been arrested or diagnosed with a conduct disorder by the time they turned sixteen. Of these 88.9 per cent had been arrested and 45 per cent had committed violent acts, including theft from other people, violent disorder, fighting, carrying a weapon, and assault.
Explain Language:
The language is very fact based and is used in a way that only blames the mothers for the anti-social behaviour of the children. It doesn’t take into account traumatic/stressful life events which could easily trigger antisocial/aggressive behaviour. The language is very to the point and easy to follow and understand.
Theories:
This study does not support Gauntlett (2007). He suggests that we all share personal qualities but wish not to accept it, whereas this study shows some light into the fact that behaviour can be passed down through genes biological as to opposedly be ‘pre-programmed’

Gamers Culture
Gamers
History of the movement or cultural group
Video game culture is a form of new media culture that has been influenced by video games.
The origin of video games lies in early cathode ray tube-based missile defence systems in the late 1940s. These programs were later adapted into other simple games during the 1950s. In
1960s, more computer games were developed and gradually increasing in sophistication and complexity. Within the culture you get types of gamers;
*From Wiki
Casual gamer - A casual gamer is a player whose time or interest in playing games is limited.
Hardcore gamer - Hardcore gamers prefer to take significant time and practice on games, and tends to play more involved games that require larger amounts of time to complete or master.
Pro gamer - Professional gamers play video games for money.
Newbie - Newbie is a slang term for a novice or newcomer to a certain game, or to gaming in general.
Import gamer - Newbie is a slang term for a novice or newcomer to a certain game, or to gaming in general.
Retrogamer - A retrogamer is a gamer preferring playing and collecting retro games - older computer, video, and arcade games.
Girl gamer - A girl gamer is any female who regularly engages in playing video games.
Fashion, Music, etc
Often the fashion of these gamers is to wear clothes labelled by the gaming companies or images of the games themselves.
“Joystick Junkies’ Creative Director, Chris Birch, gets a little nostalgic, “Most people have an Atari story, whether they fell in love with the Atari 2600 console like me or were in the rave scene in the ‘90s when DJs and artists wrote their dance floor anthems on the Atari ST. It spans so many generations of Atari love and gives us a massive catalogue of inspirational art for our new collections.”
Related Media
With the rapid convergence of all media types into a digital form, video games are also beginning to affect, and be affected by traditional media forms.
In the history, the Television engineer Ralph Baer, who conceived the idea of an interactive television while building a television set from scratch created the first video game. Video games are now also being exploited by pay-TV companies which allow you to simply attach your computer or console to the television cable system and you can simply download the latest game.
What you think it might be a reaction to (Politics, Hegemony)
Gaming in general can attract a negative point of view from a vast majority of people. Casting
Casting for our media music video production we are going to need two actors one male actors and one femal actress, this is becaus in our media production we have one male and one femal part, the actor and actress we have decided to use are Flic Quinn and Jordan McDowell. We have chosen to use these two as they both did GCSE drama and got good grades, and I believe they both are now doing drama at AS level. This means that we have two people who are capable of acting, and as it is a music video the character they are playing will not be speaking parts, so they both need to be a good at improvisation and also very effective at conveying there feeling through facial and body expression rather than using words. Furthermore the characters they are playing are supposed to be good friends, this is a good thing because Flic and Jordan are good friends in real life and should be able to act the part when it comes to filming, as well as the fact that they have known each other for a while they should also be good at acting like they dislike each other and that they are both having trouble with their friendship, and of course that will be vital when filming them slipping further from each other when it comes to filming.
Lyric Analysis
Analysing the lyrics for the song we are using for our media product (music video)
V1
( In this part of the song we will be setting the scene with a couple of location shots, as well as introducing our two characters, for the lyrics hey joe it might be fitting to have a shot of the female character looking at the male character)
Hey Joe
Where did you go
I have it all ready
Its ready to snow
Got the candlesticks lit
And my body's warm
Come Home
(For these lyrics we will show the character high and having fun together)
I'm just to high to sleep
Open Eyed Dreams
Stars, Streams, Lights Shining x2
CHORUS
( In this part of the song the male character Joe will disappear and the female character Sarah will disappear)
Then I fall down
And you slip away, yeah, yeah x2
V2
Hey Joe
Its all gone so wrong
Remember the good days
Remember our song
Its all just a bit
Too heavy I'm sick
Come Home
(In this part we are going to show our female character looking for the now presumed to be lost male character)
I'm just to high to sleep
Open Eyed Dreams
Stars, Streams, Lights Shining x2
CHORUS
Then I fall down
And you slip away, yeah, yeah, yeah x4
( With these lyrics below we are going to show what is assumed to be the male character in a suit, however when the female character looks at him it will turn out to be someone else)
Hey Joe
Where did you go

Charater Bio's
Character bio
Sarah: ( Female character) Sarah is the name we are giving our Female character, she is a junkie and will able wearing rough cloths. Sarah has spent the vast majority of her life with Joe, who is her best friend these two do everything together, but is their relationship on the edge…
Joe: (Male character) Joe is the male character, this name is mentioned a few times in the lyrics, and that is why we picked the name for the character, Joe is a junkie but he is a bit annoyed with his life choice at this pionjt in time and is considering getting clean, however he has not told Sarah yet, and he is not sure of he is going to at all.

Costume list
Costume listThe idea for this music video is that we are going to have the characters wearing rough clothes, this is because we want to connote that they are living on the edge and that they don't care too much about their appearance, also we want it to be suggested that they spend all their money on other things rather than their cloths, this will suggest that they are the stereotypical junkie.
The clothes for the male Character (While he is taking drugs)

As you can see from the selection of clothes that I have got pictured out for the male character, I have decided to go for a rather rough look, I believe that darker jeans will be more suitable to the product as the colour black connotes a more mysterious and dark character, and altough not necessary evil this character could be seen as heading down the wrong path in life, as he is taking drugs.
Male character after he has sorted himself out

For this I think it would be appropriate for the character to be wearing a suit suggests that he is successful and maybe a high ranking businessman. The suit in question wll be a classic black blazer, black tie, black shoes, black trouser and white shirt, also if possible we need as much of the whit e shirt to show as possible, this is because white connotes that he is good and because he has changed into this new better person the white shirt will symbolize that very change.
Female character:
The female character will be wearing very similar clothes to that of the male character when he is a junkie but the female character will be wearing cloths like this for the entirety of the product, the same reason as for the male character is why she will wear this, but as her character does not get better I believe that it will also be effective if her clothes actually got in a worse condition throughout the prodct, as this will be able to show her worsened state of confusion throughout the product.
Chav Stereotype for reference to the male character:

Music Magazine Advertisement
In this post I shall analyze some Music Magazine Advertisements like front pages and middle posters. To get idea's of how to make our own advertisement page for our band.
First up: Paramore Front Cover

The first thing you can notice is that the picture of Haley Williams is in front of the title of the music magazine. This gives the affect that Haley Williams really stands out and catches the eye. Everything else on the page is on top of Haley Williams. Also the use of black on white and the white on black. Even though the colours are a bit boring it really stands out to make it bold. However it has stuck to a colour theme as the dress she is wearing is also black and white and it gives the magazine cover a aesthetically pleasing look and it does represent the PopPunk genre.

Album Cover Design 2

The second design I created in Photoshop.
I tried to keep a similar design style as the first CD cover as the beand liked a few of our ideas in the previous design. But this time I tried to add a little more colour but still keeping the cold, mysterious look. This was done by using a image in the background of a scratch metal which I then set all layers after the background to overlay. This creates the effect that the image is actually inscribed on the metal rather than placed on top. Also shows a sign of aging and more realastic. I used a very bright green to catch the eyes of our audience as they walk pass the album in the shop. Planning as if it would actually happen in real life. The purple flowery effect gives a nice appeal to a more 'scenic' group whom I think this song would appeal to.

Album Cover Designs
Design One:

The first Cover Design I produced. This idea was based on the feedback given from the band. The effects they talked about linked to the editing were shots with low saturation, darkness and mystery which I hope I managed to put across in this design.
I emailed the band the jpeg and they came back with this response - "Hey man! Thanks a ton for this! It's actually really cool! My feedback would be: Not exactly sure about the yellow (in general, so not just here)And I wonder if a version exactly the same but with the slightly more legible type might not better? I could totally be wrong? Maybe it needs to be even MORE stylised? I really like it though. Def a cool direction!!"

Choosing the Band/Artist

This is the Email that I sent to a band on woho.net called The Riot Tapes. Their Music is very interesting and are a great band. Hopefully they will respond and allow me too use one of their songs for my project.
Here is the reply that we got from the band, they accepted our request and asked for more information on what song and other information we needed.
This was my reply back to them exaplining everything that I needed for our planning and execution of the project. They then began to reply via Hotmail.
Here they agreed to send me all the stuff we needed and they even have a sense of humor :)
I then replyed to them because I needed further information about the chosen song to begin planning what the music video is going to consist.
In this reply we had a rather large response about what the song was about and this is really going to help us plan the narrative for the video.
Here I further exlpain to the band some narrative idea's we came up with.
In reply to our idea's for the conclusion of the video we got some feedback from the band and what they would like to see.
