I used this questionnaire as a template for all three designs so I could easily compare and analyse all the results for each one and thus using the data acquired to choose my prefer final piece.

Barthes theory of reading a text on more than one way
Barthes
Barthe says there is more than one way to read a text. The text is a collection of ideas, it depends on how the individual reads/perceives it.
Texts can be either open or closed. If the text is open it has lots of different meanings but if it’s closed it only has one meaning.
For example our media text (thriller) according to Barthe is an open text.
One way our text can be perceived is by viewing it as a nightmare, the text begins in black and white and the actress getting chased by the killer. This creates a very dark and in a way a night time feeling. You could easily see this part as her being in a nightmare, the actress is scared and the heart beat over the text is playing with every fade in and out to black. Also what adds to the effect is when she walks into the bathroom still half asleep and it’s dark outside (Seen through the bathroom window) when the door reopens its day time. Suggesting she has fully awakened from the nightmare and a more light hearted feeling surrounds the text.
Also we can see the text from the killers perspective not just the main character. The audience is taken into the world of the killer as it switches roles when she leaves the house. The audience can now read the text as being an observation viewing on the victim. The roles have switched and the audience can also feel at ease because they are no longer in the perspective of the killer. They almost feel as if they have control.
